Update from the last post: Mike is such a sweetie! He gave in to me and said we could buy our wedding dress but after having Jamie knock some sense into me, I told him no, we are renting the wedding dress, the tux and the bridesmaid dresses. He looked amazed at the sudden change of heart but said nothing. We had a great time cooking dinner that night. Together!
Next we thought about our possible honeymoon spots. I always wanted to honeymoon somewhere exotic, preferably with a beach so that we can build sand castles together, walk on the golden beach at sunset and watch the sun rise over the horizon. We came up with a list of places we could go for our honeymoon:
• Fiji
• The Virgin Islands
• Cayman Islands
• Puerto Rico
• And my favorite, Bali!
I’m leaning towards Bali but Mike wanted us to be cautious about how we spend our money. I agreed because after the wedding gown episode highlighted last post, I don’t want to appear like a spoilt brat bent on spending all her groom’s hard earned cash.
Then, as Mike Googled around for more holiday spots, he chanced upon a wedding planning site that suggested us to plan for a destination wedding instead! I was not certain I heard about the term before but Mike excitedly explained to me that a destination wedding is held at the couple’s desired honeymoon spot. Almost like a two in one, kill two birds with one stone affair! We can save money by having the wedding in Bali and granted, we can only afford to fly some of our closest family members and friends but it will be worth it. We’d book some chalets to house our family and at the same time get our own chalet suite to ensure privacy (in case you’re wondering, no, I am not picky about have his and my family together on our honeymoon).
This is exciting! A lot of things are coming together and we are planning the wedding in earnest. Phew. Let me fire up Google too and we’ll see if we can agree on a Bali destination wedding.
