Yosemite National Park Wedding……in Red!
On June 25, 2008, I married my best friend and soul mate, Gary Wis-Ki-Ge-Amatyuk Jr. in Yosemite National Park and celebrated our family with our daughter, Kayla.
As a young girl, I always dreamed of a beautiful wedding with the man of my dreams, but dreaded the idea of a white wedding dress. White was just never “my thing".
I am Chinese (mother’s side) and Dutch-Indonesian (father’s side) and the asian culture believes red is good luck. My husband is a full blooded American Indian who comes from a well-known hereditary chief family, the Chief Burnett Clan, of the Potawatomi Indian tribe. In his culture, red and black are traditional colors to his tribe and is extremely symbolic as the red represents many things such as the blood that runs through the body, symbolizing life in a spiritual way. More info on his culture can be seen at: www.wiskigeamatyuk.com.
So when the time came, what better color to choose than red!
Here are some pics of our special day!
