Almost all brides choose white for their wedding dress. This is the traditional choice since 150 year in the whole Western world. However, wedding dresses hasn’t to be white. Pastel tones are also quite common. Blue and red wedding dresses are also not unseen.

Woman who dress unconventionally tend to prefer wedding dresses that are not white. The most audacious and modern go for red.
The wedding day is mainly a day for the bride. She is the center of all attentions in the church or whatever other ceremony. Traditionally, wedding dresses were white because it was supposed that brides should express their purity, innocence or virginity in their wedding day. Times have changed, however. Presently brides can wear, instead of white, other colors. White has already lost its original meaning and other color like blue or red are not totally depleted of symbolism. Red is the color or sensuality and passion.
The tradition of wearing a white dress was boosted principally by the wedding of Queen Mary the year 1840. White is not obligatory, whether from a Christian perspective or from any other social convention. The choice of a specific color was not prescribed by the Bible. It was principally a matter of social convention and repetition of it until it became a tradition. A tradition that is being slowly broken, since presently may wear the color that they want.
Many boutiques already have a couple of red wedding dresses and other colors as well.
Audacious brides will go for red. Even not knowing that red wedding dresses have a long tradition to look upon. This tradition is simply not Western tradition. Chinese and Indian wedding almost require a red wedding dress or at least some red hint in the dress. In both cultures it is a sign of luck and it is considered a good start for a marriage.
Brides who don’t dare to wear a completely red dress could at least give it some accents of red through red beads, sashes, jewels or embroidery. Remember that red is the color of passion and there is nothing wrong in expressing it publicly.
For brides that are already dead-set for a red wedding dress the only advice I could give it to choose with time. Red wedding dresses are not the most common item in any boutique, although they are not exactly unseen. Brides will have to shop around until they found a convenient dress.
