Wedding royalties - dress like a queen

by Karen Vander

It cannot be denied that all brides want to look special on the grandest day of their lives. A lot of brides go to great lengths to be treated like a queen but really, you just need a dash of creativity and a sprinkle of effort in order to appear resplendent like a queen would on your wedding day.

Dressing up like a modern queen on your wedding day is not difficult. The royal look is most often preferred by young brides who wish to create a romantic, dream-like ceremony in a surreal setting. This look is not difficult to achieve. If you are looking for the perfect style, consider wearing a custom made wedding dress created to resemble a contemporarily styled Victorian dress. Think satin. Think brocade. Think laces. All done in a modern manner which will definitely exude the classiness of the olden days and yet project a contemporary demeanour.

The Royal Wedding

When customizing your Victorian wedding dress, you may incorporate some “queenly” elements such as a high collar that will expose one most-looked over asset: your neck. Nothing is more womanly than baring a soft, beautiful neck while wearing your wedding gown. You can also get your seamstress to create a modern dress which incorporates design elements from a Victorian corset with pearl trimmings. Create a tight bodice with tightlacing effect, minus the tightness of course.

And when it comes to jewelry, choose a tiara that will suit your overall Victorian queen look. If you do not want to draw attention away from your intricately designed dress, select a simple but stunning tiara. A silver affair with rubies and garnet should look dazzling.

Royal weddings have set trends, influenced bridal fashion.

Consider taking wedding photos outdoors with an old castle as a backdrop for an authentic, alluring look and show how regal you are in your own queenly environment. Be adventurous and discover the many places which are ideal to shoot your wedding photographs. There are plenty of old castles in Scotland or you may even put in a special request with your wedding photographer to create an artificial backdrop. Your guests will be astounded by how surreal and queenly the bride looks in her castle!

And when it comes to a wedding bouquet, a long, single stalk of rose much like a queen’s scepter is preferred to complete the look. Give it the queen’s treatment by gilding the rose or adorning it with silver jewelry to make it look more like a scepter. You may opt for other long stalks of flowers like lilies but give it the same detailing. Carry it like you would carry a queen’s scepter.

Justin Alexander Style 8354 - Bodice is decorated with sequins, glass beads and Swarovski crystals and will make the most of an hourglass figure but the skirt is a full and fancy with a Cathedral train and pickups embellished with starburst motifs. As for the accesories, a halter strap and choker are included in the price.

No more buts and no more ifs. Take the plunge now and be the queen you deserve to be on your wedding day.

Message for Mads,

I have tried on the red one in Derby but it was a size 12 i think. It was the sample one. I am getting married next Fri and have the gold coloured one. It probably would be too big for you but it would be a ex display one so would be quite cheap and you may beable to get it altered.

Good luck

Is it a taboo to wear a red wedding dress? If not, why are so few wearing them. Is it against a religion? Is there a negative stigma attached to it. Red is associated to love and romance isn't it?
