Red wedding dresses are normal tradition color in other cultures like Chinese and Indians. Red is thought to bring in good fortune and joy, so most weddings focus around red décor, flowers, favors and most importantly, a red wedding gown. The common thing about Chinese weddings is that brides often change clothes after the ceremony. Many dress up in their traditional colored wedding dress during the ceremony and then change into something more casual during the reception, others do it the other way around.
The traditional wedding color is red and only in modern times that Chinese brides have started wearing the white wedding dress. Historically and traditionally white is not a good colour as it is worn for mourning.
Herve Western wedding dress
In Western culture, the bride usually wears only one dress throughout the occassion. In some western wedding, some brides are opting to change into something more a comfortable evening gown to be able to dance in the later part of the wedding. White wedding dress is one of the more recent wedding customs from the 1840s beginning with Queen Victoria.
The gift of an engagement ring was first practiced when the groom ‘purchased’ his bride. By giving a token, such as a ring, he makes a promise to marry her in return for her dowry, social status, and among other things. The tradition of giving a diamond began not so long ago in the 19th century. It was believed that diamonds represented everlasting love helped by strong marketing of Da Beers making it a Western tradition today.
A common tradition that is shared between the two culture is the wedding veil. The veil is used to protect the bride from being seen by evil spirits and jealous suitors. It is considered bad luck for the groom to see the bride on their wedding day before the ceremony.
Wedding traditions and customs are different in every countries all over the world. What kind of traditions do you follow? Most brides choose to be modern and throws a mix of their culture into the accepted mix of today’s popular culture. Even in very traditional countries, a bride will most likely seek to be unique and incorporate something new into their wedding.
