Where are the brides in red in the real world?

This video was created months ago but in case you do not frequent the videos section here, you might have missed it. We urge more brides to send in stories (with photos!) about themselves in a colored wedding dress to share with other visitors of this site. Simply email it to us at info@redhotbrides.com We love reading fan emails and real life stories of bold brides.

A quote from a user call Kirei from iBelieve.com:

“The reason I want to wear red is not only because it is the traditional wedding color in many Asian countries…because the color really embodies who I am, more so than a white dress would. White gowns are very “princess” and red gowns are very “queen.” When i see brides in white dresses, I think of cute, girlie, bubbly brides with high pitched voices who like pink and have been dreaming about their wedding day since they were five. And there is nothing wrong with that, but that’s just not who I am.

Be brave. Go for the gold medal and wear what you you believe represents you.

When I see brides in red dresses, I think of a woman with purpose, a woman who is bold, diligent, confident, sensual (only with her husband of course!), a woman who is able to be taught and take instruction, but also one who is unafraid to step up to the plate if need be…

That’s me.
Red is really the only color that I feel would accurately portray the woman that my fiance has decided to commit his life to”

A great testimonial by a real woman of why she would choose red on her wedding day. I wish I can locate more of these brides to get their stories and photos on here.

Japanese fashion is becoming more popular nowadays especially in wedding dresses. Well, a Japanese kimono has always been worn by ladies who are about to walk down the aisle, but this has been due the fact that the kimono is the country’s national dress. However, since Japanese fashion has already made its way into the international fashion trends, then expect a lot of brides to be wearing the said outfit on their wedding day.

If you choose to be a stunning Japanese bride, then you may as well wear a kimono to your wedding. Most wedding kimonos are color pink and peach, and drawn with intricate flowers and nature-inspired art. Kimonos are known to exhibit purity, chastity and serenity, thus most of them are usually made of light colors, especially the ones used in weddings.

You can meanwhile add spice and brightness to your wedding kimono by wrapping around a crimson obi, a special sash that acts as your corset. It is wrapped around your upper torso to keep a sense of balance and fitness to your figure, and at the same time acts as an adornment in your back (it’s the ribbon behind the kimono).

If you wish to experiment with colors, you can then mix and match shades of red with pink and peach, since they are the main colors found in female wedding kimonos. Fusing these colors creates a revolution in your wedding gown, and thus you’d be no less than a hot red bride during your wedding day.

Yes, for many cultures and traditions around the world, red is regarded to represent not only love and passion, but as well good luck, strength, and prosperity. So why deprive yourself of wearing red on your wedding? Better yet, why not create a fusion wedding? It’s time for a change: fuse the cultures-fuse the colors!

· Obi

The Japanese Obi is known as the sash wrapped around a woman’s abdomen to keep her stomach in and flat. It functions almost the same as the traditional corset, but is more comfortable and less stiff. It thus becomes a good alternative in creating a well-fitted form of the bride’s body during her wedding, as it acts to be a part of her overall wedding gown. The obi can look more fabulous when printed with bright red patterns that that show traditional Japanese designs. Other designers meanwhile incorporate red with other colors such as gold.

· Kimono

Another common Japanese outfit is the trademark kimono. Japanese women wear this outfit in almost every special occasion in the country, especially weddings. But the kimono evolution has also conquered wedding fashion as well, mainly because of their high-waist form and long, wide sleeves. There’s also a lot of room for fabulous designs for wedding kimonos, thus you can explore the areas where you can drop touches of red in the whole dress. Some wedding kimonos are also drawn with Japan’s traditional items such as cherry blossoms and other flower petals, nature’s elements and the like. You meanwhile can explore on more creations for you wedding kimono; as long as it maintains its beauty not just as a wedding gown but as representation of Japan’s vast culture.

· Sari

Probably the most popular traditional Indian dress worn by women is the sari. It usually consists of a long piece of cloth wrapped around a woman’s body and symbolizes chastity and femininity of the Indian woman. These days however, you can bring more life to the sari as a wedding gown, by fusing it with the latest wedding fashion designs that suit your tastes. You can also add more color and vibrance to this outfit by using a bright red fabric adorned with intricate patterns, so as the cultural influence remains present.

China

If you want to see where bright red weddings usually take place, then China is the place to go. Brides wear the traditional crimson cheongsam when committing themselves to their groom, since red is the color of love, prosperity, passion and good fortune. The closed-neck cheongsam dresses have become a popular wedding dress especially during the sixties. Thus if you choose to wear a Chinese cheongsam, you not only fuse two different cultures, but as well two different fashion genres in special event.

Malaysian wedding dresses

Thai wedding dresses can be a silk wedding dress or traditional handwoven cotton wedding dress or even made of modern synthetics.

Spice Up with a taste of Southeast Asia

The countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam are known for their own set of traditions and practices, as well as their intricate designs and patterns which reflect their culture.

Japanese Kimono Wedding Dress

Indonesian patterns suit well to your gown, especially when you opt to wear a corset. They can also be donned on a Japanese obi, that is if you opt for a truly Asian-inspired wedding. Malaysian outfits on the other hand deal more with Muslim designs and patterns, while Thai and Vietnamese motifs are best suited with water-garden weddings. You can also see the brides shine like red rubies during their wedding day.

Vietnamese wedding ao dai

So, since fusion is the it-word in today’s wedding fashion trend, then why not fuse these influences to spice up your wedding? Not only will you have the most memorable wedding event, you’d sure be walking down the aisle as a red hot bride!

Red bridge in Tokyo (Nippori) - Come to the other side and gain a whole new perspective

It would be quite daring to cross that bridge! I mean not literally the bridge in the above photo. There is nothing scary about the bridge above. I mean to cross and walk over old ideas and trends. Be a pioneer in the fashion world. Its as scary as crossing the bridge above. Does that bridge frighten you? Thousands of future brides are looking at the ones in red that has taken this red path in awed and are just waiting to cross. Are you one of the brides looking on and not sure of your wedding dress color?
