Red Wedding Gowns Make You the Fairytale Princess of Your Life Story

Every little girl imagines having a fairytale wedding when they grow up – with castles, a princess-cut dress with a trail, a tiara on their long golden-brown hair blown by the wind, snow falling from the earth and a prince charming sweeping rescuing them in a white horse. With stories like Cinderella losing her shoe to find her Prince Charming, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty being awakened by their prince and Juliet being swept off her feet by Romeo, many girls grow up wishing that their fairy tale weddings might come true.

If you’re planning to celebrate your wedding with a red wedding gown and a fairytale-themed wedding, here are some great ideas to get you started:

1. Disney – After Brother’s Grimm inspired folk tales in the 1800s, Walt Disney followed their steps and created some of the best fairytales of this generation. If you’re thinking of wearing a red wedding gown down the aisle, having a fairytale-themed wedding from Disney fits just perfectly.

Imagine your wedding as a mix of Cinderella and Red Riding Hood’s stories – Decorate your location with pastels of pink, blue, lavender and white. Such colors would blend in smoothly to your red wedding dress. If you prefer to go Princess-like all the way to the altar, dress up in a gown made up of organza and layers to achieve that “flowing” look you always find in princesses dancing at the ball.

2. Romantic Literature – If you’re fan of Shakespeare’s literature, you know how extravagant a wedding based from Romeo & Juliet (without the tragedy, of course) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream can be. Take inspirations from these stories by playing with the colors of fairies (yellows, pinks, greens) in making your wedding theme, or pick rich and dark colors to portray Romeo and Juliet.

If you want to take inspirations from King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, go for rich and deep colors like burgundy, emerald green, silver or gold, royal blue and purple – all of which can match greatly with a red wedding gown.

Inspiring than real fairytale weddings

3. True royal stories – What’s more inspiring than real fairytale weddings? You can be the queen on your wedding day by following styles from real royal weddings like Princess Diana in 1981, Princess Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999 or Princess Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005. Although Diana and Sophie both wore white dresses and long trails, you can always alter it to fit your style. Princess Camilla, however, wore an absolutely gorgeous, modern yet elegant, beige wedding dress with hints of golden yellow.

Royal weddings are extravagant; it demands attention starting from the church to the reception. However, if you plan to wear a red wedding dress, walking on a red carpet may not be suitable, as your gown would be drowned by the background. Make a bold move by choosing a light-colored carpet like old rose or pale yellow.

If you’re still dreaming of a fairytale wedding and your boyfriend has eventually popped the question, why not make your dreams come true and be a fairytale princess in your own story? Whichever theme you use, be the queen of the ball in a red wedding gown and experience your own happily-ever-after wedding.

/the white wedding gown came from Napoleon putting an embargo on colored cloth. It had NOTHING to do with being a virgin. In fact, before the embargo, only the poorest of brides wore white as they couldn't afford colored cloth. The traditional color of bridal gowns was green~and I'd choose color again~it's lovely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it a taboo to wear a red wedding dress? If not, why are so few wearing them. Is it against a religion? Is there a negative stigma attached to it. Red is associated to love and romance isn't it?
