What Are the Advantages of a July 4th Wedding Date?
At first thought, a July 4th wedding is a dumb idea. However, there were many perks and a few downsides to a 4th of July wedding date. What are the upsides and downsides to a July 4th wedding date?
First the perks:
Everyone already has the day off
You could choose to serve simpler food (Hamburgers, hotdogs, and ribs)
If you are on a limited budget or you are just a more informal person, this allows for more of a barbecue of better foods like ribs and steak which might feel more like your personality than filet mignon and fish.
Firework displays will be all over. Get a venue with a view of your local display. You have automatic awesome entertainment without spending a bundle.
Your wedding colors are easy. The bride is red, the flowers can be white or red - such as red roses, and decoration is a snap. Patriotic theme is not required or expected. A summer picnic theme will work as well.
Many civic halls are actually more available and you may be able to negotiate a cheaper rate. Caterers and hotel reception sites likely are available at a discount rate.
Wedding favors of sparklers or similar themed items are easy and fun to find.
Mixing up great festive drinks, foods, and variants on standards will likely be something a caterer will find interesting to do and will be excited about.

Patriotic bride on July 4th - Show you how much you love America. You may look like an oddball too.
The bad side of a Fourth of July wedding:
People may prefer to wearing flip flops and eating a hotdog that day instead of high heels or ties.
People may drink excessively as they would for the holiday.
People may be upset for missing other plans such as planned vacations.
If picnic or red white and blue themes are not your thing, it seems like you just picked a weird day for your wedding.
Parking may be impossible near your venue if its near a firework show.
Some preferred vendors - especially smaller businesses like bakeries, limousines or the band - may not be available on holidays.
It is really really hot outside. Better make it indoor!
