Make Your Red Medieval Wedding Gowns a Dream Come True

If you’ve always dreamt of having a majestic wedding day, then you’re on the right path of choosing a medieval wedding. Medieval-themed weddings are romantic, classy and colorful, but filled with customs and traditions. Compared to traditional weddings today, weddings in the medieval times involved castles, fancy colors, chivalry and of course, some of the best fairytale wedding gowns you could ever find.

Now and Forever is a corseted gown inspired by Celtic themes. Made in a sumptuous burgundy duchess satin, it features a waist reducing Victorian corset and a full, A-line skirt.

You’ll be surprised that most marriage customs from the Medieval times are still followed today. If people told you to “wear something blue” on your wedding day, it’s because the traditional symbol of purity in Medieval weddings is blue, which can be seen in brides and grooms in the past as they wore bands of blue ribbons. However, a distinct characteristic of medieval weddings is the use of colored clothing; white wedding gowns were not in fashion during those times. So what should you wear in a medieval-themed wedding?

Red Means Regal

Whether you want to portray a peasant, royalty or anything in between, your wedding gown should be your top priority. The walk down the aisle, or on a red carpet located in a deep forest, is a special moment for a bride-to-be; it just makes sense to wear a gown that demands everyone’s attention. A red medieval wedding gown does just that, so let go of the concept of wearing a white dress.

A Juliet-style wedding dress is one of the most romantic types of gowns in this era. Choose rich fabrics like velvet with elaborate touches and a mix of wine colors, deep green or rich purple. If you want to be bold, the most striking color to use in a medieval wedding gown is red due to its daring and dramatic characteristic that speaks of royalty. You can always make your red gown floor-length, long-sleeved and the sides laced up to keep its traditional feel.

Red medieval wedding gowns are often designed with elegantly low-cut styles and with gold braided ribbons that run throughout the dress. You can even opt for a popular Renaissance-style that cuts the torso of the dress, making it look like a bold coat. For those who want a more traditional dress with a hint of boldness, you can choose a gown with drop waists and princess lines. Whether you want a simple red Juliet-style gown, or a very elaborate dress fit for a queen, wearing a red wedding gown brings something unique and daring to your wedding day.

Finding that perfect Red Medieval Wedding Gown

Now that you’ve made up your mind on wearing a red medieval wedding gown on your special day, it’s time to scout for that perfect dress. While every woman should keep a red dress for a hot date or occasion, be aware that red wedding gowns are still not widely appreciated by bride-to-bes today, so looking for the dress to fit your needs may not be that easy.

Don’t fret just yet! There are places you could find a ready-to-wear medieval gown. For starters, you can check out pattern makers and manufacturers that offer excellent medieval clothing selections. These include Fantasy Fashion, Past Patterns, Folkware Patterns, Raiments and Medieval Miscellanea, among others. You can also visit some local theatre groups, costume shops and Renaissance fairs; some allow you to rent out their dresses or even buy them for cheap prices. However, if the red medieval wedding gowns or styles in shops do not fit your fancy, you can always look for a talented seamstress to make your dream ensemble for you.

I was wondering if there was a way to bring together a modern and a old fashion look to a dress? I was a sort of a elegant medieval style with a modern spaghetti strap that crosses in the back. I do not want a train on the dress but I do however want it to be floor length. I was wanting the colors to be Roja red dutchess satin for the main dress color and accented in Victorian gold dutchess. I am looking to also get a vest and tie made out of the same material o in the same design as the dress. This is for a vow renewal ceremony so I do not want it too formal but unique. We did not have a big wedding the first time around and we are wanting to capture what we want this time around. Any information that you may have or suggestions will be greaty appriciated. Thank you so much.
