Dear Wedding Goddess:

We are about to meet with our wedding officiant and we have not done much research about how to proceed with the wedding ceremony. We are kind of unsure. Before we meet with this person, shouldn’t we get clear in our own minds? Not sure what the process entails. - Lenni

Hi Lenni -

I imagine your officiant will lead you through a series of questions but it is good to give it some thought before hand.

These are some of the questions I ask couples when consult with them about creating a personalized wedding.

Where does religion fit in – or does it? Would you like to include an aspect of the faiths you were born into without the dogma? Do you want to include mention of God – or would you prefer blessing upon your union without mention of Divine presence?

What kind of ceremony would be most suited to the two of you? Would you like something personal yet that includes aspects of your traditions? Or would something romantic and offbeat be more your style? On the spectrum between a formal and traditional ceremony and the wackiest exchange of vows you can think of, where are you? Somewhere in the middle, or somewhere on the edge, wanting to be different?

What are your special needs? Think about the requirements you each may have. Is one of you more religious than the other? Is one of you atheist or agnostic? Are you an interfaith pair? Do you hail from different cultures? How much do you want to honor your heritage and the traditions of your parents and family, etc? Is there anything you abhor about those traditions and would never want in your own ceremony?

What do you two truly want? Most importantly, be completely honest with one another (and then, your officiant). Make sure you are creating this ceremony for the two of you – not just to please others.

Nice day for a red wedding. So much better than a White Wedding

As the French would say, “beau robe de mariée rouge!". That means “beautiful red wedding dress!".

Paris fashion is world famous. Always leading the avant-garde of fashion. It proves it even more when the French President Sarkozy married supermodel Carla Bruni. “Mrs. Carla Bruni Sarkozy,” wore a white dress and looked “ravishing as usual,” said Mayor Francois Lebel. Take a cue from the French and be fashionable at your own wedding. Have a Moulin Rouge theme wedding!

David’s Bridal real groom in action

Be sure to help dress up your groom and his groomsmen to make them fit into the wedding theme. They may not be aware of your color theme! Guys can be guys afterall and that means lacking in details! Make sure your man look his best in a stylish tuxedo or suit. How can you make your man stand out from all the other millions penguins or even from their groomsmen! Your man can stand out from the groomsmen by wearing a unique tuxedo, boutonniere, vest, or tie. If the bride has red in her dress, the groom can wear a black tux, white shirt, white vest, a red tie and a red pocket silk to match perfectly.

A safe and common way for the groom to stand out from his groomsmen is to have his vest and tie match the brides dress. For the groomsmen, they should the vest and tie be of a different color then of the groom and to match the bridesmaids dresses. Another idea is to have your groom to have bright colors and for the groomsmen to have dull and dark colors.

Beautiful Indian Bride

The Indian brides are usually seen in the traditional bridal wear for all their ceremonies until recently. The modern desi bride (latest fashion trend) has now decided to expand her horizon and wardrobe to include the western “gown", complete with trails and veils, which can be worn in ceremonies abroad. The infusion of a plethora of colors from the desi bride with western cultures is going to certainly have influence in western wedding fashion in the local globalization process that have been going on for the last decade.

Recalling the tales of King Arthur and his beautiful Queen, Guinevere, our thoughts wander to times of bravery, chivalry, romance, intrigue and forbidden love. These dresses shown look to be something reserved for royalty to wear. In today’s time, a bride can be the princess they have dreamed about being since little. The wedding day is referred to as the bride’s day and she is allowed to get everything go her way, from the flora to the colours in the decor that differ in shade from pure white to wheat white to ivory white. In today’s modern time many brides even design their own dresses. Some brides have some idea of what they want and work in conjunction with a dressmaker to bring that vision to life.

White is truly no longer the reigning queen of modern bridal design. People today are more colorful-bold than ever before. A red wedding dress or accents of red (or any other color) is gaining popularity very rapidly. Colorful accents is the current “norm” right now and wearing a completely off white wedding dress is considered trendy or too exotic for many of the traditionalists. Though I am not sure that a ~200 year old tradition should be considered “traditional". Before Victorian fashion era and going back further, medieval brides of an elevated social standing wore rich colors and expensive fabrics. It was common to see well-to-do brides wearing boldly colored layers of furs, velvet and silk. Those of a lower social standing wore fabrics that weren’t as rich, though they copied the elegant styles of wealthier brides as best they could.

The wedding dresses that you try on can be of any color. White is the most common color of wedding dresses but there is no reason that you have to stick with it. If you want a bright red wedding dress then you should have it–that is your right as a bride. While red wedding dress or colorful ones are not readily available in many wedding boutiques, there is a good chance the wedding dress designer will have the dress style that you like in other color choices.

Red wedding dress in spring

Wear Springing Red to go with your blushing

Apple color theme wedding

Come spring and numerous brides around the globe are all geared up to walk down the aisle. Cleopatra herself took “The plunge” in the spring (don’t ask which one!)

Thanks to feminine super imaginary powers, even before finding the right guy…she start looking for her bridal dress. And of course bridal trousseau is far more important than the groom (you have your whole life to straighten him up) but the wedding dress leaves you no margin for error.

Spring is synonym with all the cool and bright shades that nature intended us to witness. Amidst orange, green and mustard, when a shade of red peeps on the trees- it’s a sight to behold! It’s like every thing has come to life. Red is the only color which denotes exactly two opposite emotions at one time: love and passion and daring and dangerous.

Red has been a favorite with celebrities around the world. There is so much you can do with this color. Helen Mirren, Nicole Kidman, Scarlett Johnsan set the red carpet on fire at Oscars, our very own Bipasha, and recently Gauri khan looked smashing in red on the cover page of the India vogue. Moreover no other color attract as much attention as red does, and who else deserve more attention than the bride.

So leave the wedding blues for the groom and go red for your big day, enter in his life like danger oops sorry like spring (slip of pen you know). This is one color which would let you make a statement of your life. Tread in a saree, sail in a gown or swirl in traditional lehnga or gharara, you can look ravishing and provocative in anything you want at your wedding day.

Cabernet color theme wedding

Color red is regarded differently in different nations; say in china they think color red is symbol of life while color red was taboo in Victorian times. Brides were not allowed to wear red attire on their weddings, but with changing times European brides are going for red more and more.

Spring brides have a perfect excuse to wear red on their big day. The balmy air cools down the brashness of the color. In fact it looks appealing to the eye and people actually love your boldness.

You can choose from a variety of red shades, from scarlet to rococo and vermilion to fire-engine-red, try these shades in your informal outfits; it will give you an idea which shade suits you best.

Just beautiful red

Being Bridal Red for Spring Wedding

  1. Choose the perfect shade of red
  2. Don’t accessories yourself too much. Red doesn’t like competition
  3. Use make up to look fresh, do not make a cake of your self
  4. Red lipstick does not always go with red dress
  5. Use your charm and guts to mesmerize your guests

And finally a ting of shyness and natural blush, air of confidence and pretended jitteriness is what you need (remember you don’t get this stuff in the market) and you are all set to say “I Do”

Celebrities in trendy red wedding dresses

Wan Sarmila - She has been playing various cameo roles in drama series (Notably KISAH KAISARA)

Katie Price (aka Jordan) in a beautiful modern red wedding dress

Jodie Marsh’s wedding was – yikes – quite sweet! Wearing a red wedding dress does not make you outrageous or trying to be a rebel. It is fashionable!

Kate Moss posing in her own clothing lineup. The supermodel wore a stunning red dress that can pass as a destination wedding dress

Fashion has been the biggest inspiration to the modern-day consumer with celebrities designing fashion lines of their own.

Brides should consider adding a bit of individuality to their wedding by choosing to walk down the aisle in style.
