David’s Bridal wedding dress
Once you commit on wearing a red wedding gown on your big day, you should prepare yourself for the general reaction of the witnessing crowd. Expect turned heads, and a lot of raised eyebrows as soon as you make your presence felt on that aisle. The fact is that a red wedding dress is not a currently popular outfit amongst the conservative old wives, either because it is overly bold or dramatic, or it is too much associated with impulsive passion to merit a place in an affair devoted to lifelong commitment.

Don’t let the anticipated gasps of shock daunt you. You may be setting a trend which could take years to establish. Who knows if ten years from now, wedding ceremonies are in full color, with the bride wearing a gown of every imaginable shade? It is not too long ago when the prescribed color for wedding gowns is in the shades of blue, believed to symbolize purity and alludes to the Virgin Mary. Only when people of the higher echelons of society started wearing white wedding gowns did the trend start to catch on. No less than Queen Victoria herself was among the brave few who dared to go against convention, and wore a white gown, instead of the conventional silver dress.
You may have quite a dilemma in gaining the consent of parents, especially if they are conservative and would not budge at doing with anything except with a white wedding gown. In such a case you’ll have three options: scrap the red wedding dress (unacceptable!), disregard the demand (which could put a strain on the relationship between you and your parents), or work with a compromise, by toning down a red gown with contrast color splashes.
You are luckier today more than ever, since red gowns are slowly gaining acceptance in the western world for the past decade, and only recently, splashes of red have been appearing on wedding gowns in the United States. Although it is easier to get away with wearing a white gown with red accents such as a sash or a wrap-around bow on the waist, if you feel that you are up to it, you can go all the way and wear an entirely red gown. Just make sure that you prep up those in attendance with the initial shock by giving hints to your intent, such as draping the event area with curtains of white with red trims, or decking the aisle with a rich arrangement of roses and tulips of dominant red hues.

The outfits of the wedding entourage should also complement that of the bride, so that she wouldn’t be too prominent once she steps on the aisle. The bridesmaids should be wearing dresses of light cream or green, with red trimmings either around the waist, or on the sleeves. The groom and his entourage should also be dressed with the same purpose kept in mind, with the white or black coats with red lining, and the whole outfit accented with a red tie. The overall impression should be that of the ushering of the bride in an expectedly stunning gown, so that you may set up the congregation for a pleasant surprise, not for immediate shock.
